The NPD Group today announced that Gina Pingitore has joined the company as SVP, Research and Innovation, reporting to Steve Coffey, Chief Innovation Officer.

Working in tandem with NPD’s other research scientists and analytic experts, Pingitore will be responsible for leading research solutions, methodologies, and applications for NPD’s Checkout service. She will also work with Coffey to leverage new technologies and shifting retail and consumer trends to drive continued innovation at NPD.

Prior to joining NPD, Pingitore worked at Deloitte as Managing Director of its Center for Industry Insights, where she provided executive direction for the research initiatives across the firm’s consumer and industrial product sectors. Before that, she was Chief Research Officer at J.D. Power, where she was responsible for the research and statistical quality of more than 250 J.D. Power studies per year. She also played a key role in J.D. Power’s expansion of new products into new industries including financial services, insurance, telecom, and utilities, both domestically and internationally. Earlier in her career, Pingitore served as Director of Research and Planning for advertising agency Publicis Worldwide, North America. She was also an assistant research professor at the University of Illinois, Chicago and a visiting professor at the University of Akureyri in Iceland.

“Gina’s leadership skills, business acumen, and extensive expertise in quantitative and qualitative research make her a valuable asset to NPD as we support the continued growth of Checkout by ensuring that our methodologies and statistical processes are the best they can be,” said Coffey.

Pingitore earned her Ph.D. from Loyola University Chicago, and holds a master’s degree from Edinboro University.
