SMK Shows Off New Bluetooth Smart TV Remotes at CES Using uEnergy
SMK Electronics Corporation, a leading global manufacturer of OEM components, remote controls and consumer electronics accessories, and CSR plc, a global provider of innovative silicon and software solutions, today announced that the companies will demonstrate new Bluetooth Smart-enabled advanced remote controls this week at International 2013 CES, Las Vegas Convention Center, South Hall, Booth #20661.
Incorporating CSR's CSR1001 and CSR8510 A10 chip solutions (single- and dual-mode Bluetooth low energy solutions optimized for human interface devices), SMK's Bluetooth Smart-enabled remote controls incorporate advanced capabilities including pointing gesture recognition, low-latency voice command and device-to-remote "back channel" communications. Additionally, SMK's Smart-enabled remotes are up to six times more energy efficient than models using earlier Bluetooth technology.
"We are pleased to be working closely with CSR through our SMK Europe Group in the development of advanced remote control capabilities and user interface options," said Paul Evans, President of SMK Electronics Corporation. "The Bluetooth 4.0 Smart communications protocol, in conjunction with CSR's innovative µEnergy platform, creates the beginnings of a robust RF remote standard - supplying our customers worldwide with new remote control functionalities and user interface options; while delivering non-line-of-sight operation and extended battery life."
