DTA Inc. Offers New Online Option for Alcohol Awareness in Texas
Press Release, News
SUGAR LAND, Texas, Sept. 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ A new law in Texas gives minors convicted or placed on deferred disposition for certain alcohol-related offenses the option of completing a Texas Education Agency (TEA) approved Drug and Alcohol Driving awareness program (DADAP) to meet court requirements. Examples of the type of offenses that fall under this new law include Minor in Possession of Alcohol (MIP), and Purchasing of Alcohol by a Minor. Driver Training Associates Inc. (DTA) is the first and only provider that offers the state-approved DADAP course in a 100 percent online format.
Until this new law was passed, the only option for minors placed on deferred disposition or convicted of certain alcohol-related offenses was to complete an alcohol awareness program approved by the Department of State Health Services (DSHS).
"By including another state-approved awareness course that includes both classroom and online learning, it provides more options to these minors," said Troy Caesar, Vice President of DTA, a DADAP course provider. "This helps ensure education to those that need it most, regardless of where they live and whether a live class is available."
The online DADAP course allows users to access the course from anywhere with Internet access. The course doesn't have to be taken all in one sitting because the user can log in and out as needed. Upon completion of the 6-hour course, the user is mailed a state approved certificate of completion.
"DADAP courses teach students about the effects of drugs and alcohol on the human mind and body, attitude state, Texas laws and driver safety information, which is also important, since vehicular crashes are the number one killer of teens," said Caesar.
